I did some more work experience with the design team at Orla Kiely last week, which I'm really grateful for. Some of the lovely designers showed me the basics of Adobe Illustrator, which I hadn't really used before. I had some fun creating these simple patterns. I have never created designs by making shapes straight on the computer - usually I scan in my drawings and go from there - so it was really different but refreshing.
Unfortunately the colours seem to have gone a bit "off" on my computer screen at home compared to in the studio. So I'm not sure how they look for you... but here they are anyway.
I think they'd work well as stationery, maybe notebooks? What do you think of my first illustrator patterns?

Orla Kiely work experience - you have had a lucky week! Amazing patterns, really like them both. They'd be lovely as a skirt pattern too. x
ReplyDeletei think they are great! love the top one especially. what a brilliant exerience!
ReplyDeleteYes - I really like the top one too. On my screen I love the colours on the top one, but yeah - know the feeling of colours seemingly changing as you export for other formats - can be a real pain.
ReplyDeleteReally love your patterns. The combination of the blue, mustard and grey in the first one works really well x
